Microsuction undertaken correctly by a trained practitioner is a pain free method used to remove wax from ear canals when irrigation isn't possible, for example because of a perforated ear drum or grommets, where any water in the ear canal could enter the inner ear and cause problems.
Warm water irrigation, gently removes the wax by using a controlled, low pressure water jet which is angled towards the ear canal wall rather than at the actual blockage (which may push the wax deeper and cause discomfort or ear pain).
Under the steady hands of our trained practitioner, and guided with a specula, we can use a variety of sterile manual wax removal tools to clear stubborn and hard to remove blockages.
Suspect you have blocked ears, could this be an infection? Or, if you have experienced sudden pain in the last 30 days, discharge or sudden loss of hearing, please see a pharmacist or GP for advice before booking an appointment with us.
Preparing ears for microsuction/irrigation: place 3 drops of olive oil at room temperature into both ears (unless a professional has advised only one ear is blocked and therefore just oil that one), then massage the front of the ear for 5 days (earol olive oil spray makes this easy), avoid using cotton buds or cotton wool.
Aftercare advice: painful ears AFTER microsuction/irrigation may be sensitivity from the procedure, trial some pain killers and should resolve, however if this continues please see a pharmacist or GP to rule out infection, no other aftercare is required for microsuction.
Following warm water irrigation it is important to keep the ear canals dry to prevent infections, this includes swimming or submersing head under water without wearing ear plugs for a minimum of 5 days.

(A £25 consultation fee is required in full at the time of booking to secure your appointment. The remaining £40 is payable after the wax removal has been completed)
We highly recommend you have your ears checked for excessive wax, this will be done by us or by another qualified practioner...for example your GP.
